Florence Nightingale, “The Lady with the Lamp,” is the modern founder of the nursing profession and wrote Notes on Nursing: What It Is and What It Is Not in 1859, which has become a classic book for nurses and nursing students today.  Many of the principles that she wrote about still apply today and with minor interpretations for today’s real world, it comes alive.  One can clearly see the advances in the nursing profession below in the updated 2016 interpretation of “Notes on Nursing.”
