Pain Level 0/10 Correlates with GCS 3 and Respiratory Rate 0

MORGANTOWN, WV – Multiple studies have examined the higher end of the pain scale, but there is a dearth of information regarding the achievement of pain 0/10.  So researchers at National Association of Real Charting and Nursing (NARCAN) analyzed millions of emergency room charts with pain documented as 0/10.  Surprisingly, researchers discovered a pain level of 0/10 corresponds to a Glasgow Coma Score (GCS) of 3 and spontaneous respiratory rate of 0.

Patient Still a 10/10 Even After a ‘Being-Set-On-Fire’ Analogy
Doctor explains patient can be pain-free and breathing-free!

Over the last decade, remarkable strides in eliminating patients’ pain has increased reliance on self-reported 0-10 pain scales.  The Joint Commission recently mandated the pain scale go to infinity, which is perfect since GomerBlog confirmed patients are still in 10/10 pain even after a “Being-Set-On-Fire” analogy.

GomerBlog team discussed these findings with ER doctor, Dr. Miser E. Blocker.  “I know firsthand how hard it is to make patients completely pain-free, so I was very encouraged to see it could eventually be achieved.  Everyone can experience 0/10 pain!”  He goes on, “This study confirms we need to be more aggressive in pain control.  If patient is still following commands, speaking, or breathing, they are probably still in pain and we need to do more.”

The NARCAN study team also looked at patient’s pain levels and patient satisfaction scores.  Researchers found pain scores 0/10 correlated with exemplary satisfaction scores as they were filled in by the ER nurses, on behalf of the intubated patients.
