Indianapolis, IN—As the neighborhood kids all look forward to another exciting, sugar-filled Halloween spectacular, Emma E. Namel prepares for another year of humiliation and disappointment as her dentist father rages his annual war on cavities.
Festivities begin early in October, as Dr Edward Namel brings out the huge, scary sugar bugs and enormous rotten teeth decorating the front lawn. Then he adds the spider web dental floss and massive toothpicks. Dr Namel tells the GomerBlog team, “This is the best time of the year to teach kids about the most dangerous thing in the world. No, not Trump. Or measles. Or nuclear war. I’m talking about sugar.”
So as excited children run up to her house for trick-or-treating, Emma is humiliated as her father passes out toothbrushes, floss, and mini bottles of mouthwash. But the most embarrassing moment, every single year, comes as Dr Namel tries to steal candy out of the children’s bags. And nothing is more frightening to children as someone trying to take their candy. Oh, except Emma’s mom, Dr Vacks, a general pediatrician trying to give all the trick-or-treaters flu shots.
