(Tarrytown, NY) – Patagonia, in conjunction with multiple medical schools around the country, announced today the new short white fleece to replace the medical student’s traditional short white coat.
“We feel this is in keeping with the changing times and fashions,” commented company spokesman John Smith. “Residents are eschewing the white coat and switching to fleeces. Medical students have begun to adopt this style as well, however, then the question becomes how to differentiate between medical students and residents? We feel the short white fleece is the answer.”
The short white fleece will come down just past the rib cage in most individuals and will continue to have large pockets to be stuffed with copies of the Washington Manual, Maxwells, penlights, surgical equipment and bandages, gloves, snacks, and old patient lists. It will retail at $400.
The short white fleece while looking toward the future does recall the past as well. John Smith: “With medical students wearing fleeces the looked significantly less awkward than with the short white coat. The short white fleece successfully returns the medical student the awkward self-conscious ideal.”
