Radiologist Day: 6 More Weeks of Clinical Correlation

NEW BRIGHTON, PA – Every year on February 2 the world waits to see if a groundhog will see his shadow on what is aptly named: Groundhog Day.  The medical community has their own version, which may not be well known outside of medical professionals, known as Radiologist Day.

Radiologist Day is not a day to honor radiologists, but rather for hospitals across the nation to let radiologists out of their dark black boxes in the basement to go outside.  If the radiologist sees the bright sun, squints, and scurries back inside like a vampire, the hospital will see full, accurate read-outs on their radiology reports.

If the radiologist doesn’t get scared by the natural light, he or she will go golfing, shopping, spelunking, or continue their epic D&D games.  All radiology reads will be the standard “Cannot rule out: *insert random list of diagnoses*,” followed by a “Recommend clinical correlation,” the medical equivalent of an out of office reply or don’t blame me for jack.

Today, February 2nd, Dr. Wakowski was let outside of his reading room.  It was a chilly overcast day and he didn’t squint nor was he scared.  He went out to go experience the world.  GomerBlog is proud to report that Dr. Wakowski will be busy skiing and snow tubing.  Anticipate 6 weeks of “Recommend clinical correlation.”
