DENVER, CO – New York Giants team doctor Scott Rodeo feels like a giant moron as he once again rushed out onto the field tending to the care of an injured player without his stethoscope.  The transgression took place in the third quarter at Mile High Stadium during the Giants’ game against the Denver Broncos.

“It’s always the adrenaline rush that gets me, I always forget!” Rodeo told reporters at the post-game press conference, still with a stethoscope visibly absent around his neck, or blazer and pant pockets.  “All I want to do is get out there as quickly as I can and help out the players.”

Rodeo expects to be reprimanded by both NFL commissioner Roger Goodell and the Joint Commission, and they plan to make an example of him for an offense that is frankly committed by the team doctor and medical staff of every NFL team around the league.

“Who cares that he’s not an internist,” Goodell told Gomerblog in a phone interview.  “Orthopods are perfectly capable of using stethoscopes.”

Feeling the need to come clean and confess to reporters on what is clearly becoming a recurring theme, Rodeo also told reporters he was ashamed he didn’t have time to wash his hands with soap and water for at least 30 seconds, put on gloves, or even grab his white coat prior to entering onto the field.  “I know, it’s just so darn unprofessional.”
