Trauma Surgeon Looks Forward to Sleeping in Until 5 AM Tomorrow

SEATTLE, WA – After what has been undoubtedly a very busy week even for what is expected this time of year, Harborview Medical Center trauma surgeon Ramona Myer looks forward to a lighter day of responsibility tomorrow and sleeping in until the ridiculously late hour of 5 in the morning.

Asleep at 6:15 AM, this trauma surgeon’s day has effectively been squandered

“It’s been a brutal month of trauma call, I’ll tell you what,” said Myer who typically is up and out of bed no later than 4 AM every morning.  “I’m going to do it.  I’m going to be sleeping in until some crazy hour, something like maybe 5 or even 5:15 in the morning.  I know when I wake up I’ll regret having wasted my whole day – I might as well just eat dinner after I wake up! – but you know what, I just gotta catch up on my sleep.  Have to.”

Myer can’t conceal the delight of throwing all caution to the wind and not even setting an alarm, something she usually wakes up before anyway on most work days, so that she can truly be undisturbed with her beauty sleep.  “The idea of waking up 90 minutes before sunrise, I mean, I feel like I won’t have any time the rest of the day to get things done!”

That being said, Myer does want to take advantage of this once-in-a-million opportunity.  She is even tossing around the idea of staying up really late.  Like really late.  Even for her.

“I can probably afford to party it up tonight, maybe stay out until 7 or even 8 o’clock at night,” said Myer who suddenly experienced a rush of adrenaline.  “Man, not getting to bed until 9 PM?  That’s so unlike me.  I know, I’m such a rebel.  You know what they say: work hard, play harder!”

Seconds later, Myer face-planted onto her desk, having fallen deep into a narcoleptic slumber.
