‘Twas the night of call, when all through the ward
Not a patient was stirring, and the nurses quite bored
The Emerg referred patients who just “could not go home”
Most of them had some toxic syndrome
The med students were nestled, snug in their beds
While the Senior had creatinines all over his head
Neuro was thinking “It’s probably not a stroke”
And Ortho was around fixing what broke
Potassiums were low and sodiums were high
As Gen Surg was paged while releasing a sigh
Psych was home and said not to form 1
They’d have to come in and ruin their fun
A foley was tried and tried some more
They waited for Uro to walk through the door
Many CTs were ordered much to the chagrin
Of the Radiology resident who inputted them in
When all of a sudden, there was called a code
And each of the teams sprung out and showed
They sprinted the hallways to see what was the matter
One of the patients had taken a splatter
They each took the pulse and found there was none
Compressions were started, CPR was done
A shock was given and the patient woke up
ICU was called and would follow-up
Back to the call rooms as the dawn broke
To sneak in a nap before their attendings woke
A patient walked by as they rounded in the light
He gave the residents thanks for a pleasant, good night
