The Pelvic, Breast and Rectal (PBR) exams are now being performed on our attorneys in our legal department due to restrictions by that same legal department forbidding the of use of outside contractors due to new University policy.
IRS rules interpreted by the legal department have required that all outside contractors must be employees and cannot be reimbursed as 1099 employees. The legal department stated PBR must be done on employees.
The following day medical students with gloves and lubricants were lined up outside of the legal department offices. The attorneys remarked that this new job requirement appears to be a similar experience they encountered during law school when studying medical tort law. Overall the attorneys were satisfied that they were contributing to the educational experience of our medical students.
