Lenny Jones, a retired pipe fitter and Navy veteran celebrated his 102nd birthday at the Greenwood Hills nursing home on Tuesday.
When asked about the secret to his long life, Jones held up a glass and gave a little wink. “Whiskey and women, that’s what keeps me goin’! ‘Course now, I can’t get around like I used to!”
Jones went on to recount other losses in his life including the passing of his elder brother in the 1918 influenza pandemic, the death of shipmates during a bombing run in the Pacific, and the succumbing just last week of his roommate to a lethal pneumonia. “Yessir, whiskey and women!” Jones continued, “That and not dyin’”
