SYRACUSE, NY – Last night at approximately 2 AM, an orthopedic resident on call at St. Francis Hospital dropped a post-operative check note in the chart for a TKA patient that has baffled experts from every specialty.

orthopedic surgeonCharge nurse Tammy Robbins was perplexed when she read Dr. Ken Wilker’s note with only one word in the assessment and plan section: “Covfefe.”  “Immediately everyone on the ward was trying to figure out what it meant.  Cover feet and feces, cover for evening for everything, cast over feet, check out Vicodin for each feet…we couldn’t figure it out.”

Numerous pages were made to Wilkers, but in typical fashion, no call back was made.  By daybreak, everyone in the hospital was talking about the cryptic one word note.  Every medical specialty was trying to decipher the acronym.

Wilkers was suddenly more famous than the orthopedic resident who had written an entire note without words and also the resident who wrote a note only in emojis.  Six hours after writing the note, hospital administrators were attempting to delete the note from the patient’s record due to an EHR crash caused by too much traffic to the patient’s record.
