ATLANTA, GA – Kevin Pho, or better known as KevinMD, rescued another burned-out physician from a tree Saturday. Here’s why.
“I was so burned out, I climbed a tree and then I just couldn’t get down,” Dr. Hampton told reporters. “I mean 30 patients a day, and most of the time I spend documenting every second of the encounter. I can only recognize my patients by their chart not their face, and that’s frustrating. I don’t feel I’m making a difference.”
Dr. Hampton said he broke when a hospital administrator said he was getting low HCAP scores because he wasn’t prescribing enough opioids to his patients. “I had it. I left the office and climbed the nearest tallest tree I could find.”
Luckily KevinMD was around and read him some of his latest burnout posts from his blog. “That really put his pain in perspective,” Kevin said. “After that I was able to climb up there and help him down.”
Dr. Hampton is back at work practicing how the hospital administrators would like him to practice. “He was just a wild horse that we had to break in,” said hospital administrator Cheryl Hynes.
“Wait!” KevinMD protested. “This madness has to stop! I can’t spend my whole career rescuing burned-out physicians from trees all over the country!!!”
