WHITE PLAINS, NY – Unfortunately we have to report on another sad tale of how graduate medical education can take a toll on families. It seems that Dr. Sylvia Smythe, a first-year urology resident, has filed for divorce from her husband of eight years.
Dr. and Mr. Smythe who were high school sweethearts moved to the area just a few short months ago so she could begin her residency training in urology at University Medical Center. Dr. Smythe stated, “My husband and I met when we were very young and we had a few great years. When I saw my first few clinic patients, I knew the world had more to offer…”
Smythe continues, “I had no clue what was out there until I started my training. I probably should have been a little crazier in college instead of learning about this now in my life.”
Mr. Smythe could not be reached for comment, but rumors are circulating that he wants to go to medical school to become an OB/GYN now.
