PORTLAND, ME – Parking has become a major issue at Maine Medical Center in Portland. Hospital administrator Angela Stevens had to find a solution quickly. “We have patients and employees not being able to find parking near our hospital during peak hours. Something had to be done.”
Stevens described looking at certain groups at the hospital to see which groups were non-essential. “I know it is tough to say that a group is non-essential, but one group in particular stuck out like a sore thumb.” Stevens was of course talking about medical students working at the hospital.
“New Hampshire has graciously given us an acre of land to accommodate the medical students. They can park their car in this newly-mowed field, and then find some other form of transportation to the hospital.”
